No Way To Behave: What you need to know about the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2011

Scotland will soon have the most robust laws in the UK to protect individuals from domestic abuse, stalking or harassing behaviours. This 1/2 day information seminar will explore the newly implemented Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act and how victims can seek protection in law before being subjected to a series of unwanted behaviours. It will also explore the links with legislation brought in under the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010. Speakers include Clare Connelly, Senior Lecturer in Law, Glasgow University, Ann Moulds, Scotland Against Stalking and a speaker from the Crown Office Prosecution Services.

GEWA Doors Open Day

This event is organised for health professionals in the North East to get behind the scenes, look at what GEWa as an organisation provide for the women that they refer to the service. Dedicated staff including children and young people's workers will be available to talk about the work they do.

Amina Muslim Women's Resource Centre is hosting an information seminar about Forced Marriage and the newly implemented Scottish legislation. Lunch will be served.

Hands Off

A creative arts project exploring the themes surrounding violence against women. Artist Iseult Timmerman and Flora Alexander will lead 2 sessions for up to 20 women that explore the hand as a powerful visual symbol. The works will be displayed during the event on 8th December and some will also feature as a postcard for future distribution.

Gold Stars and Dragon Marks  Dates To Be Confirmed

Glasgow East Women's Aid are pleased to present Gold Stars and Dragon Marks the DVD. Based on the drama developed by Baldy Bane Theatre Company, this event will run in 2 primary schools for P4 pupils in the North East of the City. The DVD will be shown follwed by workshops and will explore issues related to bullying, domestic abuse and friendships.
